Job summary

Echuca Engineering in Echuca, Victoria, is seeking an experienced Fitter and Turner for a full-time role in our workshop. You will fit, turn and manufacture parts, set up machines, and assemble sub-assemblies to exact specifications.

Qualifications

• Formal trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar Fitter and Turner role.
• Proficient in the use of various hand and power tools, workshop machinery and welding equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant licences or tickets (e.g. forklift, working at heights, confined space) are highly regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Fitting, turning, and manufacturing parts using tools and dies.
• Operate machining tools to press, cut, grind, bore, and drill metal, and assemble sub-assemblies.
• Carry out machining tasks such as lathe work, milling, line boring, grinding and welding.
• Undertake maintenance and repair work on equipment and machinery.
• Fabricate and modify parts and components as required.
• Study drawings to determine materials, methods and sequence, and set up machines with tooling and settings.
• Check parts for accuracy with precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure work complies with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering team to resolve issues.
• Maintain detailed records of all work performed.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Fitter and Turner to join our dynamic team at Echuca Engineering. This is a full-time role based in our Echuca, Victoria workshop.

Echuca Engineering provides a comprehensive maintenance and repair service for the bulk fuel / dangerous goods and food industry, agriculture, earthmoving and commercial applications.

What you'll be doing

• Fitting, turning, and manufacturing parts using specific tools and dies for cutting and threading.
• Operating machining tools to press, cut, grind, bore, and drill metal, and assembling sub-assemblies.
• Carrying out machining tasks such as lathe work, milling, line boring, grinding and welding.
• Undertaking maintenance and repair work on a variety of equipment and machinery.
• Fabricating and modifying parts and components as required.
• Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable materials, methods and sequence of operations, and setting up machines with the appropriate tooling and settings.
• Checking fabricated and assembled parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with relevant safety and quality standards.
• Collaborating with the wider engineering team to resolve technical issues.
• Maintaining detailed records and documentation of all work performed.

Hours

• Monday-Friday, 8am - 4.30pm, plus any on-call/after-hours or overtime expectations.
