Job summary

Queensland Government in Cairns is seeking a Maintenance role within the Buildings, Engineering and Maintenance Services team. You will assist with the selection, training and ongoing management of electrical trade staff, and perform maintenance on boilers, generators and steam systems across hospital facilities.

The role involves fabrication work, equipment repairs and contributing to a safe, reliable health care environment in the Cairns region.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Management team in staff selection, ongoing management and training in the electrical trade.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on boilers, drive end generators, air compressors, other steam equipment and steam reticulation systems, fuel pumps and other related mechanical equipment.
• Carry out aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel fabrication and repairs to trolleys, beds and other equipment.
• Carry out repairs to stethoscopes, wheelchairs, IV poles, kitchen utensils & precision surgical implements requiring sharpening/repairs.

Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services currently consist of professional, operational, administrative and trade staff. The Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
