Job summary

Wellways invites applications for a Part-time First Nations Peer Support Worker within the Medicare Mental Health Centre in Gladstone. This role emphasises lived experience, cultural safety, and community connection to support mental health and wellbeing.

You will work a rotating roster including evenings and weekends, bringing your personal experiences to help participants access suitable services and pathways on their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health or AOD, or 1+ year relevant experience.
• Demonstrated strong connection with First Nations communities and cultural safety understanding.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with warmth and respect; person-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• As a First Nations Peer Support Worker, use your lived experience to connect with participants and offer hope.
• Walk alongside participants to explore options, build confidence and access appropriate support.
• Support recovery journeys in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
• Contribute to a supportive team focused on compassionate care and cultural safety.
