Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) in Dubbo is seeking a First Nations Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to strengthen culturally safe health services across Far West NSW. You will work with clinical teams and community stakeholders to apply SEWB principles and coordinate pathways between RFDSSE, ACCHOs, ACCOs and other providers.

This identified position requires Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander affiliation and offers a community-led, culturally safe care

Qualifications

• Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with community connections.
• Experience working with people, families and organisations in health, wellbeing or community services.
• An understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) and the cultural determinants of health.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a clinical environment while maintaining cultural and professional boundaries.
• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.
• Relevant qualifications in Aboriginal Health, Community Services, Social Work or a related field will be highly regarded, although demonstrated community services experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver First Nations Health and Wellbeing support patients and families to navigate healthcare services in a culturally safe way.
• Providing cultural guidance and support to the RFDSSE.
• Building and maintaining trusted relationships with Elders, community members and partner organisations.
• Working with community to co-design and deliver health and wellbeing programs.
• Strengthening community referral pathways with ACCHOs, AMSs, ACCOs and other service providers.
• Promoting culturally responsive engagement and support in clinical service.
• Represent First Nations Health and Wellbeing Service team at community, interagency and sector forums.
