Job summary

Adept fire protection services is seeking a skilled technician to install, service and maintain fire protection equipment across commercial, industrial, and residential sites. You will inspect extinguishers, hoses, hydrants, doors, and lighting, and keep detailed service records.

You must hold a vocational qualification or trade training in fire protection, may need licensing, and a valid driver's license for field work.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualification or trade training in fire protection equipment service (or equivalent experience).
• Industry certification or licensing may be required depending on local regulations.
• Knowledge of applicable fire safety standards and codes.
• Valid driver’s licence may be required for field service roles.

Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain fire protection equipment and systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
• Inspect and test fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, and fire blankets to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and functional testing of exit and emergency lighting systems.
• Inspect and maintain fire and smoke doors to ensure correct operation and compliance.
• Install, inspect, and service gaseous fire suppression systems and foam generating equipment.
• Inspect passive fire and smoke containment systems, including seals and fire-rated barriers.
• Replace, recharge, or repair fire protection equipment as required.
• Maintain service records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Identify faults, hazards, or non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures while performing installation and maintenance work.
