Job summary

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in Broome is seeking an Assistant Fire Operations Officer to contribute to prescribed burning and district fire management. The role operates across regional services to support biodiversity preservation and park management while coordinating fire equipment and operations.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge (Level 1) and experience (Level 2) in natural land management or a closely related field, with a preference for fire management.
• Broad understanding of planning and implementing works programs.
• Some knowledge of the principles involved in developing and monitoring budgets.
• Demonstrated physically fit and able to pass the departmental fire fitness test.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the preparation of burn prescriptions and assists with prescribed burning operations.
• Assists with district fire management activities and works as outlined in strategic operations and management plans.
• Provides oversight and control of all fire equipment and supplies including vehicles, plant and heavy-duty vehicles.
