Job summary

Crystal Fire Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Door + Passive Technician to join our growing team. You will install, maintain, repair and test fire doors, fire seals and lightweight constructions, ensuring Passive fire safety systems meet Australian Standards across our NSW client base.

This hands-on role requires precision, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, testing and maintaining fire doors and passive systems.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards for fire doors and passive systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
• NSW regulatory knowledge and compliance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Test fire doors, solid core doors and smoke doors per AS1851-2012.
• Install and replace fire-rated and non-fire-rated doors and hardware per AS1905.
• Create asset registers for fire seals and passive assets.
• Repair and install fire seals and lightweight constructions per manufacturer standards.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for clients.

Job description

Crystal Fire Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Door + Passive Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repairs and testing of fire doors, fire seals and Lightweight Constructions. You will play a crucial part in ensuring that Passive fire safety systems are installed, repaired and tested up to relevant Australian Standards, protecting lives and property across our diverse client base. This is a hands-on technical position that requires precision, attention to detail and a commitment to safety excellence. On the job training for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Testing of Fire Doors, Solid Core Doors, Smoke Doors as per AS1851-2012.
• Replacement and installation of fire-rated/non-fire-rated doors along with other door repairs, hardware, etc as per AS1905.
• Testing 7 creating asset registers of fire seals, lightweight constructions, and other passive assets.
• Repairs, replacement and installation of fire seals, lightweight constructions, and other passive assets/items as per manufacturer’s standards.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for clients seeking expert advice.
• Document all work completed, including test results, maintenance records and system configurations.
• Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and ensure systems meet their needs.
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and company protocols on every job.
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations and emerging fire safety technologies.

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification in Carpentry or Passive. (Not Mandatory but suitable)
• Proven experience installing, testing and maintaining fire doors & passive systems
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards relevant to fire doors and passive
• Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and system schematics wherever required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varied work environments
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites
• Physical fitness and capability to work at heights and in confined spaces where required
• Knowledge of fire safety regulations and compliance requirements in NSW
