Job summary

Singleton Council is recruiting a Financial Systems Specialist to administer and optimise our financial systems, reporting structures and data governance. You will work with stakeholders to move from spreadsheet-based processes to integrated planning, budgeting and reporting solutions.

This role requires a commercially minded finance professional with strong analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset, supporting a modern, data-driven finance function on a 35-hour week term contract

Qualifications

  • Essential degree qualifications in accounting, financial management or business management.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, data management and system improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to identify, develop and implement system, process and reporting improvements.

ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

Playing a key role in the delivery of our Financial Improvement Program, helping to shape the future of financial management, reporting and decision-making across Council, the Financial Systems Specialist will be responsible for the administration, optimisation and ongoing enhancement of Council's financial systems, reporting structures and financial data governance framework. This role works closely with stakeholders across the organisation to improve processes, strengthen financial controls, enhance reporting capabilities and drive the transition from spreadsheet-based processes to integrated financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys solving complex problems, leveraging technology to improve business outcomes and turning data into meaningful insights. Combining financial analysis, systems administration, stakeholder engagement and project-based improvement work, the role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on organisational performance while helping build a modern, efficient and data-driven finance function.

Essential to this role is degree qualifications in accounting, financial management or business management, complemented by demonstrated experience in financial reporting, data management and system improvement initiatives with a proven ability to identify, develop and implement system, process and reporting improvements within a continuous improvement environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong financial systems experience, highly developed analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset, along with the ability to build effective relationships and provide trusted advice across a diverse organisation.

This position is offered on a Term contract, Full-time basis working 35 hours per week until 30 June 2027. Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 13 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $107,703 - $121,152 per annum plus superannuation.
