Job summary

Singleton Council is seeking a Youth Worker to support young people aged 11-17 by planning, delivering and evaluating engaging social, recreational and educational programs that promote personal growth, wellbeing and community connection.

Working in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment, this role builds meaningful relationships with young people, provide guidance and advocacy, facilitate group activities, and connect individuals with appropriate support services when needed.

Qualifications

  • Essential qualification in Social Sciences, Youth Work, education or related field or relevant experience.
  • 2+ years working with young people is advantageous.
  • Must hold a current driver’s licence.
  • Experience in program development and conducting group activities is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging social, recreational and educational programs for ages 11–17.
  • Build meaningful relationships with young people and provide guidance and advocacy.
  • Facilitate group activities and connect individuals with appropriate support services.
  • Collaborate with local schools, community organisations and service providers.
  • Contribute to innovative youth initiatives and early intervention programs.

ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

The Youth Worker plays an important role in supporting young people aged 11-17 by planning, delivering and evaluating engaging social, recreational and educational programs that encourage personal growth, wellbeing and community connection. Working in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment, this role builds meaningful relationships with young people, provide guidance and advocacy, facilitate group activities, and connect individuals with appropriate support services when needed.

The Youth Worker helps develop innovative youth initiatives, contribute to targeted early intervention programs, and create opportunities that empower young people to develop confidence, resilience, leadership skills and a sense of belonging. They also work closely with local schools, community organisations and service providers to ensure young people have access to the support and resources they need to thrive.

Essential to this role is qualifications in Social Sciences, Youth Work, education or a related field and/or relevant experience, a current driver’s licence and proven experience in working with young people with experience in program development and conducting group activities.

This position is offered on a Permanent, Part-time basis working 19 hours per week. Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 7 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $35,252 - $39,654per annum plus superannuation.
