Job summary

CMC Markets ANZ in Sydney is seeking a Risk Analyst to monitor financial risk across CFD and Stockbroking. You’ll analyze risks, produce monthly board information, and advise on risk management while building a strong risk culture.

You will bring strong analytical skills, experience in risk management, and proficiency in Excel, Python, and SQL. Full working rights in Australia required, with five days in the office.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to interpret data and identify risks or trends.
• A degree or qualification in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, risk or quantitative discipline.
• Experience in financial risk management or related function.
• Stockbroking or trading environment experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and identify financial risk issues for CFD and Stockbroking.
• Produce monthly board information identifying financial risks for senior management.
• Verify risk metrics are signed off and reported.
• Review and develop new business projects to identify, manage and mitigate risks.
• Advise business on financial risk matters and promote a strong risk culture.

What you’ll be working on

• Monitor and proactively identify financial risk issues pertaining to CMC Market’s CFD and Stockbroking business.
• Compile and drive the continuous improvement of FRM’s monthly board management information for senior management that identifies and outline the financial risks within CFD and Stockbroking.
• Verify relevant risk and KRI metrics have been appropriately signed off and reported.
• Assist with the review and development of new business projects to ensure any financial risks are readily identified, managed and mitigated.
• Provide advice and guidance to business representatives on financial risk matters and work proactively to build a strong risk culture.

What will help you be successful?

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify potential risks or trends
• A degree or relevant qualification in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, risk or another quantitative discipline
• Some experience in financial risk management, market risk, liquidity risk, risk reporting, financial analysis or a related function
• Experience within a stockbroking or trading environment will be highly regarded
• A foundational understanding of financial markets, derivatives, financial instruments and risk concepts
• Strong Excel skills; exposure to Python, SQL or other data analysis tools will be advantageous
• High attention to detail, with a curious, proactive and investigative approach to problem-solving
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly to colleagues and stakeholders
• Full working rights in Australia
