About the role

We are currently growing and seeking a Financial Reporting focussed professional at the Manager or Senior Manager level. This is a full-time, Canberra-based role where you will utilise your skills, experience and business acumen to deliver high quality work across a range of client projects and engagements. This role would be highly suited for an existing financial accounting manager and/or a 1st mover from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm who have experience in external audit and wants to take the next step in their career. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Preparing and reviewing complex financial statements and associated working papers
• Execution and/or oversight of financial accounting and reporting processes including monthly close cycles and associated internal controls
• Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on accounting matters ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborating with clients to implement, review and maintain efficient accounting processes and controls
• Engagement with various stakeholders such as executives, audit committees and external audit teams
• Budgeting, costing, finance business partnering and other management accounting activities
• Mentoring and developing junior members of the team

About You

Along with a strong work ethic, you will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field (required)
• Relevant work experience (5-8+ years) and typically have obtained CA/CPA designation
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for Commonwealth Government work (incl. Australian citizenship)
• Proven expertise in preparing financial statements and other complex accounting reports
• Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Strong attention to detail, curiosity and a pro-active approach to implementing effective internal controls
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients
• Experience working with or in Commonwealth entities is highly desirable
