Job summary

Rentco Transport Equipment Rentals P/L is seeking a commercially minded FP&A Manager to translate operational activity into meaningful financial insights across our national branch network. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting, partnering with operational leaders to drive profitability and efficiency.

The role requires CPA/CA with 5+ years in FP&A or related finance roles, strong modelling, and the ability to present to CFO/Board.

• CPA or CA qualification with 5+ years in FP&A, Mgt Accounting, Commercial Finance, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, ensuring accurate financial plans.
• Partner with State managers and executive stakeholders to deliver financial insights and recommendations.
• Prepare budget, forecast, and performance reporting packs with commentary for leadership.
• Develop and improve standard costing frameworks and unit economics models across asset classes.
• Deliver monthly financial and operational performance analysis, identifying trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Own and enhance financial models, planning tools, and reporting frameworks for automation and consistency.
• Maintain data integrity of planning, forecasting and costing master data with cross-functional collaboration.
• Lead, coach and develop the Commercial Analyst to drive a high-performing finance function.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager

About You

You are a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business to solve problems and influence outcomes. You combine technical expertise with strong communication skills and can confidently present complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

This is a highly visible position within our Finance team, responsible for translating operational activity into meaningful financial insights, forecasts, budgets, and strategic recommendations. You will partner closely with operational leaders across our national branch network, providing the financial analysis and commercial intelligence that drives informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, ensuring accurate financial plans that support operational and strategic business objectives.

Partner with State managers, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders to deliver financial insights, analysis, and recommendations that drive informed decision-making.

Prepare budget, forecast, and performance reporting packs, including meaningful commentary for the CFO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board.

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard costing frameworks and unit economics models across all asset classes and branch locations.

Deliver monthly financial and operational performance analysis, identifying trends, risks, variances, and opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.

Own and enhance financial models, planning tools, and reporting frameworks, driving automation, consistency, and process improvements across the business.

Maintain the integrity of planning, forecasting, and costing master data while working closely with Finance, Operations, and IT to ensure data accuracy and governance.

Lead, coach, and develop the Commercial Analyst, fostering a high-performing, commercially focused finance function that supports business growth.

Skills & Experience

CPA or CA qualified with 5+ years' experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Management Accounting, Commercial Finance, or a similar role.

Advanced financial modelling expertise with a strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial performance management.

Highly analytical with proven problem-solving and commercial decision-making capabilities, able to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and present financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.

Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and support team members while fostering a high-performance culture.

Experience within transport, logistics, fleet, equipment rental, or other asset-intensive industries is highly regarded, along with exposure to fleet management systems, AI-enabled reporting, and modern business intelligence tools.
