Job summary

AXR Recruitment & Search is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to own the global record-to-report process across numerous countries and currencies. The role reports to the GM Finance and sits within a structure supported by senior finance leadership.

You will refresh and standardise the R2R framework, drive month-end close, and oversee balance sheet stewardship with a focus on high‑risk areas. Engagement with an offshore SSC and automation initiatives are key elements.

Qualifications

• Established senior finance leader with strong R2R background.
• Experience in audit and controllership roles within large listed businesses.
• Proven ability to set and enforce global R2R standards across multiple countries and currencies.
• Experience with offshore/shared services models and driving performance from outsourcing.
• International/multi-currency exposure and ability to navigate complex intercompany transactions.

Responsibilities

• Refresh global R2R standards covering month-end close, journals, reconciliations and intercompany activity.
• Define global standards and ensure adherence across teams and regions.
• Oversee balance sheet with targeted reviews of high-risk items and aging items clearance.
• Own R2R control framework, including segregation of duties.
• Address internal audit findings related to R2R, driving root-cause analysis.
• Drive automation in journals and intercompany processes; collaborate with transformation lead on AI opportunities.
• Lead a network of finance teams relying on the standards, with one direct report.

• Finance runs through a mix of in-country teams and an offshore shared services centre, so the same process gets done quite differently depending on where you look. Your job is to assess, improve & standardise.
• You will report to the GM Finance, with real backing from senior finance leadership.

What the Role Involves

• Refreshing the global R2R standards first up. Month end close, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
• You'll help set the global standard and then make sure it actually sticks.
• Oversight of the balance sheet rather than doing the recs yourself, including targeted reviews of high risk areas and getting aged items cleared.
• Owning the R2R control framework, segregation of duties included.
• Any internal audit findings that touch R2R come to you to resolve properly, root cause and all.
• Driving more automation across journals and intercompany, and looking at where AI can take out manual work (alongside a transformation lead already in place).
• One direct report, but a big network of finance teams relying on your standards who don't report to you.

Ideal Background / Experience

• Established senior finance leader, not after a first step up.
• Audit background, then controllership in a large listed business.
• Genuine end to end R2R experience, from how a transaction is recorded right through to what gets reported.
• You've worked with an offshore shared services or outsourced model and know how to get the best out of one.
• International and multi-currency exposure is important here.
• Oracle, BlackLine and EPM or similar, and happy to get into the detail in Excel when needed.
• Comfortable with ambiguity. There's no set weekly list of deliverables, so you'll need to be someone who works out what matters and gets on with it.
• A services or project-based background is a plus but not essential.
