Job summary

April Group Australia is seeking a senior financial leader to run day-to-day finance across its corporate, funds and asset entities. You will own the integrity of the financial control environment, lead a small team and drive process, documentation and controls as the group scales.

The role demands strong technical accounting, Australian accounting standards know-how, and proven experience in month-end, statutory reporting and external audits, with a track record of improving systems.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification with substantial post-qualification experience, including time as a Financial Controller or senior finance manager.
• Funds management accounting experience, including trust accounting, distributions and investor reporting.
• Strong technical accounting and current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Proven ownership of month-end, statutory reporting and external audit.
• Experience leading and developing a small team.
• A track record of improving systems, processes and controls.
• Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance people, and the confidence to raise issues early.

Responsibilities

• Month-end close and monthly management reporting across corporate, fund and asset entities with insightful commentary.
• Fund accounting, including trust accounting, distributions and investor reporting.
• Property accounting, including outgoings, recoveries and asset-level reporting.
• Statutory reporting, external audit and all tax obligations, working with external advisers.
• Treasury, cash flow forecasting and debt facility administration, including covenant reporting.
• Annual budget, rolling forecasts and scenario analysis to support leadership decisions.
• Finance systems and process improvement, building scalable workflows.
• Financial support on acquisitions, disposals and capital transactions.

Job description

April Group is a property funds and asset management business with a portfolio weighted towards commercial office assets. We've grown quickly over the past 18 months, and our portfolio and transaction pipeline are continuing to build. That growth means real opportunity for someone who wants to shape how finance works here as we scale.

Reporting directly to our Chief Financial & Operating Officer, you'll lead the day-to-day finance function and own the integrity of our financial control environment across the corporate entity, our managed funds and the underlying property assets. It's a hands-on technical role with genuine leadership responsibility. You'll lead a small finance team and lift process, documentation and controls as we grow.

What you’ll own
