Qualifications

• Qualified CA or CPA with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Funds management accounting experience including trust accounting and distributions.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Proven ownership of month-end, statutory reporting and external audit.
• Experience leading a small team and driving system improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and monthly reporting across corporate, fund and asset entities.
• Oversee fund accounting, including trust accounting, distributions and investor reporting.
• Manage property accounting, including outgoings and asset-level reporting.
• Ensure statutory reporting, external audit and tax obligations are met.
• Coordinate treasury, cash flow forecasting and debt facility administration.
• Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts and scenario analysis.
• Drive finance systems and process improvements for scalability.
• Provide financial support on acquisitions, disposals and capital transactions.

April Group is a property funds and asset management business with a portfolio weighted towards commercial office assets. We've grown quickly over the past 18 months, and our portfolio and transaction pipeline are continuing to build. That growth means real opportunity for someone who wants to shape how finance works here as we scale.

Reporting directly to our Chief Financial & Operating Officer, you'll lead the day-to-day finance function and own the integrity of our financial control environment across the corporate entity, our managed funds and the underlying property assets. It's a hands‑on technical role with genuine leadership responsibility. You'll lead a small finance team and lift process, documentation and controls as we grow.

What you’ll own

• Month‑end close and monthly management reporting across corporate, fund and asset entities, with commentary that adds insight, not just numbers
• Fund accounting, including trust accounting, distributions and investor reporting
• Property accounting, including outgoings, recoveries and asset‑level reporting
• Statutory reporting, external audit and all tax obligations, working with our external advisers
• Treasury, cash flow forecasting and debt facility administration, including covenant reporting
• The annual budget, rolling forecasts and scenario analysis to support leadership decisions
• Finance systems and process improvement, building ways of working that don’t depend on any one person
• Financial support on acquisitions, disposals and capital transactions

What you’ll bring

• CA or CPA qualification with substantial post‑qualification experience, including time as a Financial Controller or senior finance manager
• Funds management accounting experience, including trust accounting, distributions and investor reporting
• Strong technical accounting and current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
• Proven ownership of month‑end, statutory reporting and external audit
• Experience leading and developing a small team
• A track record of improving systems, processes and controls
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance people, and the confidence to raise issues early

Property accounting experience (particularly commercial office), unlisted property funds or AFSL environment experience, and exposure to acquisitions or capital raising will all be highly regarded. So will experience in a growing business where the structure is still being built.
