Job summary

Megaplex Construction is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team in a fast-paced construction environment. You will oversee daily financial operations, provide strategic financial guidance, and help drive growth while maintaining robust controls.

Key duties include cash flow management, budgeting, reporting, payroll, and liaising with external accountants. The role offers an immediate start, a competitive salary, and long-term career development within a growing company.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in financial leadership roles (Financial Controller, Senior Accountant)
  • Experience in the construction industry is desirable
  • Strong cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning knowledge
  • Excellent budgeting, cost control and financial reporting ability
  • CPA/CA qualification or working towards one is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial management of the business.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Manage cash flow, forecasting, and working capital.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets and financial performance.
  • Prepare management reports and provide financial analysis for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, taxation, and statutory requirements.
  • Manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and implement strong financial controls.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and financial institutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and business efficiency.
  • Support leadership with strategic financial planning and growth initiatives.

About the Role

As the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in managing the company's financial operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring the financial health of the business. Key Responsibilities

Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership finance role.

  • Previous experience within the construction industry is highly desirable.

  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience using MYOB accounting software.

  • Demonstrated experience in cash flow management, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Excellent understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the business.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards one) will be highly regarded.
