Job summary

Paradise Resort Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team and support the resort's financial performance. This hands‑on role blends financial management with operational involvement and team development.

You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow, while collaborating with department managers to drive improvements and ensure compliance. A CPA/CA or equivalent qualifications are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance leader in hospitality is preferred.
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance with CPA/CA highly regarded.
• Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Finance team with a hands‑on, collaborative leadership style.
• Prepare monthly reports, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and year‑end reporting.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, capex and financial performance with GM and dept managers.
• Oversee AP/AR, revenue reconciliation, financial controls and statutory compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting systems.

About the role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the resort, providing accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting effective business decisions.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines financial management, operational involvement and team development.

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, highly organised and confident managing financial processes, while also being an approachable and supportive leader who enjoys developing their team and working collaboratively with other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support the Finance team, ensuring effective daily operations, clear communication and ongoing team development.
• Prepare and oversee monthly financial reports, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end financial reporting.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, capital expenditure and financial performance in collaboration with the General Manager and department managers.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue reconciliation, financial controls and compliance with statutory and company requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting systems and operational efficiencies across the resort.

Skills and experience

• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance leadership role, ideally within hospitality, hotels or resorts.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CPA or CA qualifications highly regarded.
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop a Finance team, with a supportive, hands-on and collaborative leadership approach.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and build strong relationships across the business.
