Whites Group, a family-owned Australian business, is seeking a Commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function from our Central Office in Glendenning, NSW. Reporting to the Group CFO, you will drive financial reporting, budgeting and strategic decision support while developing a high-performing finance team.

You should bring 5+ years of experience across accounting, planning and commercial finance, with CA/CPA credentials or progress and experience with multi-entity

We are looking for a commercially minded finance leader to join Whites Group as Financial Controller. This role could suit an experienced Financial Controller looking for a broader, more influential position in a hands-on business environment, or a strong Finance Manager, Senior Financial Accountant, Group Financial Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller ready to take the next step.

Based at our Central Office in Glendenning, this senior leadership position reports to the Group Chief Financial Officer and leads a Finance team of four.

This role would be ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial thinking, curiosity and the confidence to build trusted relationships across the business. You'll enjoy balancing the discipline of financial control with the opportunity to influence strategy, support better decision-making and make a genuine impact on business performance. Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys leading people, improving processes and helping others understand the story behind the numbers.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering accurate and timely management and financial reporting

Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning

Strengthening financial controls, governance and statutory compliance

Coordinating audit, taxation and regulatory requirements

Supporting strategic initiatives, investments and business cases

Improving working capital, profitability and operational decision-making

Simplifying, standardising and automating finance processes

Enhancing management reports, dashboards and access to financial information

Coaching and developing the Finance team

Contributing as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team

You will have:

5+ years’ experience across financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, controls or commercial finance

Experience leading, supervising, coaching or developing others, with the ability to build capability the finance team

A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce

CA or CPA qualification, or substantial progress towards completion

Proven budgeting, forecasting and financial-analysis capability

Knowledge of accounting standards, compliance obligations and internal controls

Experience with financial systems or enterprise resource planning platforms

Strong spreadsheet, modelling and data-analysis skills

Exposure to a multi-entity, multi-site or multi-currency environment
