Covetrus is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Brisbane (Northgate) or Sydney (Erskine Park) offices on a permanent basis. You will provide accurate financial information to support our wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand, reporting to the Finance Manager in Brisbane.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a large commercial accounting environment.
• Accounting/Commerce degree with CA/CPA status (or in progress).
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills.
• Good time management with agile prioritisation.
• Proactive mindset for continuous improvement.

Responsabilités

• Month-end close including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Variance analysis and US reporting support.
• Oversee financials for software business and advise software team on financial matters.
• Ownership of fixed assets and operating leases accounting.
• Load financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assist with statutory financial statements and audits.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• Support internal control framework compliance.
• Contribute to projects and process improvements.

The Role Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join either our Brisbane (Northgate) or Sydney (Erskine Park) office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Brisbane based), you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support our wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large finance team and be part of a global organisation that makes a positive impact to our vet customers and pet owners.

Your responsibilities will include –

• End of month preparation including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Providing variance analysis and other supplementary reporting to management and as required for US reporting purposes.
• Day to Day financial management of our software business and supporting the software team on financial matters.
• Ownership of processes and P&L accounts associated with fixed assets and operating leases.
• Responsibility for loading financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements and liaising with external auditors as required.
• Budget preparation and forecasting.
• Assisting with compliance with global internal control framework.
• Assisting with various projects and business improvement initiatives.

About You

Ideally you will display –

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce coupled with CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Demonstrated three years experience within a large, commercial environment and accounting team.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel.
• Well developed interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt your communication to suit different internal stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise your work in an agile way.
• A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on seeking out continuous improvement opportunities.
