Job summary

State Library of New South Wales is seeking a Financial Accountant to maintain the integrity of the library's financial records and reporting, ensuring compliance with legislative, Treasury and accounting requirements. You will support sound decision-making and strong financial governance across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA membership (or equivalent professional qualification).
• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and taxation compliance.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, and NSW Treasury reporting requirements.
• Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, journals, and month-end processes.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines.
• A commitment to continuous improvement, and collaborative working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Managing month-end financial accounting processes, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, depreciation and reconciliations.
• Monitoring and reviewing financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity.
• Overseeing the preparation and submission of GST, Payroll Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.
• Preparing Treasury and statutory reporting, including monthly reporting, forward estimates and annual financial statements.
• Supporting internal and external audit activities and ensuring compliance with reporting obligations.
