Job summary

icare seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to lead statutory reporting across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Treasury requirements. Ideally based in Gosford, with flexibility to work from the Gosford office at least one day per week.

The role focuses on delivering accurate financial statements, supporting AASB 17 implementation, and partnering with auditors and treasury teams to drive sound financial decisions.

Qualifications

• Must be CA or CPA with experience delivering statutory financial statements.
• Experience in complex financial services or insured environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Experience with AASB 17 Insurance Contracts.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical outcomes.
• Proven ability to work with auditors and treasury stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements across multiple entities.
• Deliver monthly NSW Treasury submissions and year-end returns.
• Support implementation and ongoing compliance of AASB 17.
• Provide accounting advice to stakeholders and partners.
• Collaborate with Audit Office and Treasury on complex queries.
• Develop accounting positions, papers and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting controls and processes.
