Job summary

Bluefin Resources is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant for a 9-month contract based in Sydney, with hybrid work arrangements. The role leads APRA regulatory reporting across the Group and supports the migration of the general ledger.

Requirements include CA/CPA qualification and 3+ years in financial services or regulated environments, with hands-on APRA reporting experience and strong technical accounting knowledge. Salary is $150k + super (pro rata) for the 9-month term.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' post-qualified experience in financial services or a regulated environment.
• Hands-on APRA reporting experience including preparation and submission of returns.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and APRA Prudential Standards.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with reporting automation and tools like Power BI, Snowflake or Workday is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review, and submission of APRA regulatory returns.
• Own end-to-end APRA reporting process including data collection, validation, reconciliations, governance and submission.
• Investigate reporting variances, resolve data issues and respond to regulator queries.
• Drive reporting automation, process improvements, and enhanced controls across regulatory reporting.
• Support external audits and prepare reporting analysis for Board and Audit Committee stakeholders.
• Assist with other regulatory obligations and regulatory/statutory returns.
• Support month-end accounting activities and general ledger reconciliations.

A leading Australian financial services business is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join their Sydney-based team on a 9-month contract. This role will lead regulatory reporting across the Group, working closely with Finance, Actuarial, and Investment teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely submission of APRA and other regulatory returns, while supporting key finance initiatives including the migration of the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review, and submission of APRA regulatory returns ensuring compliance with prudential standards
• Own the end-to-end APRA reporting process, including data collection, validation, reconciliations, governance, and submission
• Investigate reporting variances, resolve data issues, and respond to regulator queries
• Drive reporting automation, process improvements, and enhanced controls across the regulatory reporting function
• Support external audits and prepare reporting analysis for Board and Audit Committee stakeholders
• Assist with all other regulatory obligations and regulatory/statutory returns
• Support month-end accounting activities, general ledger reconciliations, and broader finance initiatives.

About You

• CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)
• 3+ years' post-qualified experience, preferably within financial services, insurance, or a regulated environment
• Demonstrated hands-on APRA reporting experience, including preparation and submission of returns
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and APRA Prudential Standards
• High attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Any experience with reporting automation, Power BI, Snowflake or Workday is highly regarded
• 9 month contract to commence in October - hybrid working arrangements
