PeopleConnect Recruitment – Sydney North Shore NSW is partnering with a global medical technology leader to hire an Assistant Accountant stepping up to a Financial Accountant role. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to financial reporting, month-end close and compliance in a sophisticated international finance environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field.
• Experience in Assistant Accountant or Junior Financial Accountant role.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting software.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines in a reporting-driven environment.
• Proactive, eager to learn and pursue professional qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting and close processes.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journals and general ledger entries.
• Support financial reporting to the US parent company.
• Assist with management reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary.
• Support compliance with corporate accounting policies and reporting deadlines.
• Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Contribute to audit preparation, statutory reporting and compliance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Work closely with the Financial Controller and broader finance team across the region.

The Opportunity

Our client is a highly regarded global medical technology company with an established presence across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and commercially minded Assistant Accountant looking to take the next step, or an emerging Financial Accountant seeking greater responsibility and exposure within a sophisticated international finance environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills, take ownership of financial reporting responsibilities and gain exposure to the reporting requirements of a US publicly listed organisation.

Working within a collaborative finance team, you will play a hands-on role supporting the financial operations and reporting requirements of the APAC business.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting and close processes

About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have developed a solid foundation in accounting and are now looking for that next step in their career.

You may currently be an Assistant Accountant seeking your first Financial Accountant position, or a Junior Financial Accountant wanting greater exposure to international reporting and a global corporate environment.

Ideally, you will offer:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline

• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or Junior Financial Accountant position

• Sound understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes

• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills

• Confidence working to deadlines in a reporting-driven environment

• A proactive, enthusiastic approach with a genuine desire to learn and develop

• CPA or CA studies commenced or an interest in pursuing professional qualifications
