Job summary

Fiona Watson Recruitment is recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a global manufacturing and distribution business at their Oceania head office in Yatala. • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
• A degree qualification in Accounting.
• Strong reconciliation and general ledger experience.
• Desire to develop technical accounting knowledge and skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP is desirable; excellent Excel skills requested.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain general ledgers and financial records across multiple entities.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers.
• Produce monthly departmental and ad hoc financial reports.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly GST returns.
• Assist with manufacturing variance reporting, production costs and stock control.
• Manage fixed asset acquisitions, disposals and register maintenance.
• Handle work-in-progress calculations and fixed asset accounting.
• Support payroll processing and administration.
• Oversee and provide backup for Accounts Payable processes.
• Assist with year-end financial statements and tax return packages.
• Liaise with external tax agents and auditors.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient financial operations.

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant or Accountant who is ready to broaden their experience and take the next step.
You will ideally bring:

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
• A degree qualification in Accounting.
• Strong reconciliation and general ledger experience.
• A genuine desire to develop your technical accounting knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Business Central or a similar ERP system (desirable). Good Excel
• Manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and willingness to take ownership.
