Job summary

Sabco Australia is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join our finance team and oversee our AP, month-end, year-end and tax processes. You will prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing financial advice and insights to senior management.

• Experience in FMCG industry preferred; team player.

Responsibilities

• Lead AP Team: supervise accounts payable, process invoices, payments and improvements.
• Month End/Year End: close processes, reconcile accounts, post journals, prepare statements.
• Tax and compliance: payroll tax, BAS, income tax, FBT, liaise with auditors and tax authorities.
• Audit & external liaison: conduct external audits and resolve accounting issues.

We are searching for a Financial Accountant.

About the role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to join our finance team and oversee our AP team, the month end, year-end, and tax-related processes. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, reports, and budgets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing financial advice and insights to senior management.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, a CPA or CA qualification, and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. You should also have advanced knowledge of accounting software, MS Excel, and tax laws. You should have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

Lead AP Team

• Manage and supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
• Provide guidance and support on all aspects of accounts payable operations
• Implementing improvements and best practices on both process and system
• Manage USD Hedge contracts
• Review, monitor and analyse general ledger accounts
• Mapping GL codes if need in Financial Statements
• Lead the team to complete GL reconciliation on the monthly basis
• Prepare and post journals for the month end and year end
• Lead Fixed Assets accountant to ensure all FA journals are posting correctly

Month End and Year end

• Perform month end and year end close processes in ERP system including period end rollover, reconciling accounts, posting journals, and preparing financial statements.
• Prepare and review financial result and analysis with Financial Controller, including Sales reports, rolling cash flow projection, working capital analysis etc.
• Analyse financial results and variances, and provide commentary and recommendations

Tax and others

• Ensure tax compliance by preparing and lodging payroll tax, BAS, monthly income tax, and FBT on a timely basis
• Prepare tax provision journals
• Conduct external audits, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and standards
• Research and resolve accounting issues and queries
• Liaise with external stakeholders, such as auditors, tax authorities, and banks
• Keep abreast of accounting developments and best practices

Qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• CPA or CA qualification
• Exposure to the FMCG industry
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a large or complex organization
• Proficient in accounting software, such as Syspro, Xero or SAP
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and data analysis
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and tax laws
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Team player with a positive attitude
