Cadence Connect, an ASX-listed business with a long history, seeks a skilled financial reporting professional in Brisbane. You will be technical, focused on statutory accounts and group reporting, coordinating with auditors and the wider finance team.
You will own month-end close, consolidation, and ASX reporting, working in a growing, governance-driven environment with mentoring and continued professional development.
This is an ASX-listed business with more than 150 years of continuous operation behind it, selling into over 20 countries and still expanding. It is the kind of organisation that is genuinely hard to find in this market, old enough to have proper governance and process, big enough to have real technical complexity, and still moving fast enough that there is work to build rather than just maintain.
The group reporting team is led by people who came out of Big 4 audit, which matters more than it sounds. They know what a first mover out of practice actually knows and what they do not, they know how to teach the commercial side, and the technical standard they hold the team to is the standard you were trained to. The mentoring here is real, not a line in a benefits list. It's true 1:1 development assessment and then a plan to work toward to help you professionally develop and add value.
What the business wants from this hire is someone who will learn the operation properly in the first six months, then start improving how the reporting gets produced rather than simply producing it.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager within the group reporting function, you sit at the technical end of finance. You will own a meaningful share of the month end close, the statutory reporting cycle, and the consolidation of the overseas entities, working alongside the external auditors, local advisers and the wider finance team.
This is technical financial accounting, not commercial finance or FP&A. If you are moving because you want business partnering and analysis, this is not the role and the first six months may frustrate you. If you want to go deep on statutory accounts, consolidations and listed company reporting with people who can teach it properly, this is one of the better seats in the market.
If FP&A and Commercial Finance is path you’re striving for, this is still an excellent opportunity to master the technical fundamentals before applying an analytical and business partnering skillset. The role may not change but it doesn’t need to because you’ll be ready to change, whether internally or externally. This is your opportunity to learn in a growing, well established, environment with a culture of high performance that still realises there is a human on the other side of the table.
The role splits across month end, the statutory reporting cycle and the consolidation work, with the balance shifting depending on where you are in the reporting calendar.
This role calls for someone who is accurate under a reporting deadline and comfortable asking the question rather than guessing the answer. You will be dealing with auditors, local advisers and stakeholders outside finance, so the ability to explain a technical position in plain English matters as much as taking it correctly. Underneath that sits a real financial reporting foundation, and that part is not optional.
Inner city suburbs location with on site parking nearby, flexible work arrangements, an annual bonus, a training budget and industry leading mentoring.
