Job summary

The Print Bar in Brisbane is seeking a Finance & Payroll Officer to own day-to-day finance, payroll and HR administration. This role blends office collaboration with remote work to drive accurate reporting and timely payments.

You’ll work closely with directors to interpret numbers and influence business decisions. With 3+ years in bookkeeping/payroll and strong Xero/Excel skills, you’ll navigate modern award payroll and ensure compliance across QLD and VIC.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in bookkeeping, payroll, finance officer or assistant accountant role.
• Hands-on experience interpreting a Modern Award and running award-based payroll.
• Strong Xero and Excel skills; Employment Hero experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of GST, BAS, super, STP and payroll tax.
• Studying towards or holding a CA/CPA, a Cert IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping, or a payroll qualification is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Full bookkeeping in Xero including bank/credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, supplier and partner reconciliations.
• BAS, IAS and month-end close including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monthly management reporting with P&L and balance sheet commentary.
• Cash flow forecasting, budgets, margin and cost analysis, stock valuation.
• Work with external accountant on year-end and tax.
• Fortnightly payroll in Employment Hero for production and office staff across QLD and VIC.
• Interpret and apply Graphic Arts, Printing and Publishing Award 2020: classifications, casual loading, overtime, penalties, leave loading, public holidays.
• Ensure employees on correct classification, rate and pay arrangement; roll out wage increases each July 1.
• Manage leave balances, long service and parental leave entitlements; calculate termination and redundancy payments.
• Handle super, PAYG, STP, payroll tax and workers’ compensation declarations.
• Onboarding/offboarding paperwork with external HR provider for complex matters.
• Flag compliance risks early (hours, rostering, breaks, underpayment) and recommend fixes.
