Job summary

The Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts in Canberra is seeking an EL1 Assistant Director, Financial Management, Affimative Measures, Disability to lead the Financial Operations team and oversee accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, travel, and related processes.

This hybrid, full-time, permanent role emphasizes leadership, stakeholder engagement and delivery of high-quality financial services in line with APS policies.

Qualifications

• EL1 level experience managing complex or sensitive work under broad direction.
• Proven staff management experience within a financial/operational context.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Customer service focus with mentoring capabilities.
• Willingness to lead change and implement system improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team across diverse financial functions and day-to-day operations.
• Oversee accounts receivable and payable, invoicing and payments.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to deliver services.
• Identify process improvements and system enhancements.
• Ensure accuracy of financial data and monthly reporting.
• Manage complex projects within the Financial Management Branch.
