Job summary

Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority Brisbane is seeking a Finance Officer to manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank transactions and assist with month-end duties, including journal preparation for approval. The role also provides financial policy guidance and supports asset reconciliations and stocktakes.

Qualifications

• Investigate and provide practical recommendations to improve financial management and governance.
• Knowledge of financial requirements, policies, and use of spreadsheets and computerized systems.
• Develop strong stakeholder relationships and respond to their needs and expectations.
• Take initiative to progress work and achieve objectives with accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication to advise and negotiate with managers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel claims and corporate card transactions.
• Daily reconciliation of bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist month end processes, prepare journals for approval (accrued expenditure, prepayments, unearned revenue, employee costs).
• Provide guidance on financial accounting policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in asset reconciliations, useful life reviews and the annual stocktake.
• Coordinate up-to-date desktop manuals and promote continuous improvement of policy and procedures.
