Job summary

Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is hiring a Finance Officer in Parramatta with a 50% hybrid work arrangement. The temporary, full-time role runs until 30 June 2028 and covers procure-to-pay validations, accounts payable and financial reporting.

You will contribute to compliant and accurate financial information, support system improvements, and enhance decision-making through robust reporting. Relevant Excel/Power Query skills and accounting qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance operations in property development sector, procure-to-pay and accounts payable.
• Ability to investigate issues, escalate appropriately, and propose next steps.
• Qualifications in Accounting/Business/Commerce or related discipline; professional body membership was mentioned as advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial records using appropriate systems to support accurate reporting.
• Provide timely financial data for decision making and governance.
• Review invoices and approvals to ensure policy compliance.
• Support administrative and analytical tasks to improve reporting quality.
• Build financial capability across the Department by educating and supporting business areas.
• Assist development and enhancement of financial reporting systems and methods.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support audits by preparing records and documentation for the Finance Team.
