Location: Council Administration Building, 198 Dowling Street, Dungog

Compensation: Annual Package AUD $72,987.00 - $82,100.00

Dungog Shire Council supports a growing rural community of over 10,000 residents in the vibrant and picturesque Hunter region of NSW. We are committed to ensuring the ongoing and consistent delivery of local services that are valued by our community and will be for generations to come.

It is anticipated that our population will grow by 1.9% per annum over the next 20 years as per the Hunter Regional Plan, higher than the state growth average. With an additional 2,400 dwellings to be provided over the term of the Hunter Regional Plan, Dungog will be the second fastest growing LGA in the Hunter Region.

Dungog is ideally located just over an hour north of Newcastle and within close proximity to a range of other regional hubs in the Hunter Valley, such as Maitland and Raymond Terrace. We have an enviable lifestyle with easy access to World Heritage listed sites, such as Barrington Tops National Park.

Dungog Shire Council is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced finance officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing efficient, accurate and compliant transactional services across key financial functions including payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable in accordance with policy, legislative and Award requirements.

To be successful in this position, you will have the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams to support the achievement of Council's financial, operational and legislative obligations. You will be a self-starter driven by the opportunity to deliver high quality financial services to Council and our key stakeholders.

Essential selection criteria include (full criteria in the Position Description):
  • Previous experience and/or relevant qualificationsin Accounting, Business or other relevant area combined with recentcontemporary experience or an equivalent combination of contemporary experienceand education/training relevant to the requirements of the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to process a high level ofdata entry and electronic/online records accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and analyticalskills and the ability to deliver in a timely manner with a high level ofaccuracy including but not limited to organisational and financialproblem-solving and complex calculations as part of the payroll function.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in operating officeequipment and utilising proprietary software systems including Microsoft Suite.
  • Proven commitment to delivering a high standard ofservice, ensuring a customer-focused, flexible team approach to servicedelivery.
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritisationskills, including the ability to effectively manage workloads and competingpriorities to achieve agreed outcomes within established deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skillswith a high level of integrity, demonstrated clear understanding and practiceof confidentiality and proven ability to work autonomously as part of a team.
Be rewarded

This position is placed at Grade 6 of Council’s salary system. It is a full time, 35 hour per week position currently being offered on a 2-year fixed term contract. The salary is in the range of $72,987 to $82,100 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

This role works a 19-day month with 1 rostered day off (RDO) every 4 weeks.
