Job summary

Mansell Taylor Consulting is partnering with an established organisation to appoint an experienced Finance Manager for an initial four-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The role requires a hands-on finance professional who can own core financial accounting, month-end close, reporting and financial controls, working closely with senior finance leadership. Unrestricted working rights are required.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA-qualified finance professional with strong financial accounting and financial control experience
• Experience at Manager/Controller level or equivalent
• Hands-on with month-end, reconciliations and reporting
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritise in a busy finance environment

Responsibilities

• Take hands-on ownership of month-end close activities
• Prepare and review journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain balance sheet integrity and investigate outstanding items
• Prepare monthly financial and management reporting
• Support statutory reporting, audit and compliance requirements
• Oversee general ledger accuracy and financial controls
• Support cash flow, working capital and financial reporting requirements
• Review AP, AR and transactional accounting activities as required
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting
• Collaborate with finance and operational stakeholders
• Take ownership of assigned finance projects and deliverables during the contract period

Job description

We’re partnering with an established organisation to appoint an experienced Finance Manager for an initial four-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

This is a hands-on role suited to a technically strong finance professional who can step into an existing function, quickly understand the environment and take ownership of core financial accounting and month-end activities.

Working closely with senior finance leadership and the broader finance team, you’ll provide additional capability across financial control, reporting, reconciliations and day-to-day accounting requirements.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking hands-on ownership of month-end close activities


• Preparing and reviewing journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations


• Maintaining balance sheet integrity and investigating outstanding items


• Preparing monthly financial and management reporting


• Supporting statutory reporting, audit and compliance requirements


• Overseeing general ledger accuracy and ensuring appropriate financial controls


• Supporting cash flow, working capital and financial reporting requirements


• Reviewing AP, AR and transactional accounting activities as required


• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis


• Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting


• Working collaboratively with finance and operational stakeholders


• Taking ownership of assigned finance projects and deliverables throughout the contract period

About You

You’ll be a CA or CPA-qualified finance professional with strong financial accounting and financial control experience, ideally gained at Finance Manager, Financial Controller or equivalent level. We will consider experienced Senior Financial Accountants who have been performing in a Manager/Controller level role.

You’ll be comfortable remaining hands-on with the detail, particularly around month-end, reconciliations and reporting, while having the experience to work autonomously and quickly establish priorities in an existing finance environment.

You will bring:

• Strong month-end and financial accounting capability


• Sound technical accounting and financial control knowledge


• Experience preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations


• Strong reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience


• Confidence working across AP, AR and broader transactional finance


• Strong Excel and ERP systems capability


• A practical, organised approach and ability to work autonomously


• Availability to commence at short notice

This is an initial four-month contract, with the possibility of extension. It would suit an experienced Finance Manager or Financial Controller who enjoys stepping into a business, taking ownership and providing reliable, hands-on support from day one.
