Job summary

ERM in Sydney is seeking a Finance Manager to support day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and oversee month-end close in line with Group policies and Australian regulations.

You will coordinate with the Global Delivery Centre, Tax, Treasury and Group Finance, review GDC outputs, and assist with statutory reporting, audits and continuous improvement within a multinational shared services environment.

Qualifications

  • CA or CPA qualified or working towards CPA/CA.
  • 5+ years in financial accounting or reporting.
  • Experience coordinating month-end close in medium/large org.
  • Strong Excel and internal controls knowledge.
  • Experience in a multinational with GDC/shared services.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly financial close for Australian entities.
  • Prepare and review journals, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly management reports with analysis.
  • Support statutory reporting, audit requests and compliance.
  • Lead and develop Assistant Accountant.

Job description

Reporting to: Financial ControllerPosition SummaryReporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Australian business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective month-end close processes and compliance with Group policies and Australian regulatory requirements.Working closely with the Financial Controller, Global Delivery Centre (GDC), Tax, Treasury and Group Finance, the Finance Manager coordinates month-end activities, reviews financial information prepared by the GDC and supports statutory reporting, audit and compliance activities.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Month-EndCoordinate the monthly financial close process for the Australian entities.Prepare & review journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Accountants/GDC.Prepare monthly management reports and supporting analysis.Investigate significant balance sheet and P&L movements and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.Review payroll journals and payroll reconciliations.Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and support accurate financial reporting.Ensure Group reporting deadlines are achieved.Shared Services PartnershipDevelop strong working relationships with the Global Delivery Centre (GDC).Review work performed by the GDC and ensure deliverables are accurate and completed on time.Coordinate the timely resolution of finance and accounting queries.Support the ongoing development and optimisation of the shared services operating model.Work collaboratively with Group Finance and other regional finance teams.Financial Control & ComplianceReview balance sheet reconciliations and monitor outstanding reconciling items.Support compliance with Group finance policies and internal controls.Coordinate local compliance activities including BAS support, insurance renewals, bank guarantees and other regulatory requirements.Assist in maintaining a robust financial control environment across the Australian entities.Support finance governance and compliance initiatives.Statutory Reporting & Audit SupportSupport the Financial Controller with year-end statutory reporting activities.Coordinate information required for statutory reporting and external audits.Assist in responding to audit requests and preparing supporting documentation.Support tax compliance activities in partnership with the Tax team.Work with the Financial Controller to ensure statutory reporting and compliance deadlines are achieved.LeadershipLead, coach and develop the Assistant Accountant.Review work completed by the Assistant Accountant and provide ongoing guidance and support.Promote a collaborative, accountable and continuous improvement culture within the finance team.Continuous ImprovementSupport finance transformation initiatives across ANZ and APAC.Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen controls.Support system enhancements and reporting improvements.Participate in finance projects and other ad hoc initiatives as required.Skills & ExperienceCA or CPA qualified (or working towards completion).5+ years' experience in financial accounting, financial reporting or finance operations.Experience coordinating month-end close processes within a medium or large organisation.Strong understanding of financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.Experience supporting statutory reporting, audits and compliance activities.Microsoft Excel skills.Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience working within a multinational organisation.Experience working with a Global Delivery Centre (GDC) or shared services environment.Personal AttributesThe successful candidate will:Thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.Build strong relationships across local and global teams.Demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.Take ownership of deliverables and consistently meet deadlines.Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality outcomes.Embrace continuous improvement and support positive change across the finance function.Who We Are:As the world’s leading sustainability consulting firm, ERM is uniquely positioned to contribute to the environment and society through the expertise and energy of our employees worldwide.
