Job summary

Calvary Christian College is seeking a Finance Manager who will lead the finance function across the Calvary Education Group, including Eaton College, providing strategic financial advice and ensuring stewarded resources for long-term sustainability.

The role reports to the Business Manager and focuses on governance, budgeting, reporting, and financial planning within a Christian education context.

Qualifications

• Christian commitment and alignment with Calvary’s mission.
• Proven experience across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cashflow, audit and internal controls.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, payroll, funding and statutory compliance.
• Ability to lead, develop and support a high-performing Finance Team.

About the role...

We are seeking an experienced and capable Finance Manager who is passionate about Christian education and excited to use their professional expertise to support a growing and influential ministry. The successful applicant will actively support the Christian mission, vision, values and ethos of the College while contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will lead and continuously strengthen the finance function across the Calvary Education Group, including Eaton College.

This is more than a traditional finance role. You will be a trusted financial leader, providing strategic advice, supporting sound decision-making and ensuring the College’s resources are stewarded effectively for long-term sustainability.

What we are looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will hold a current positive Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain and satisfy all required pre-employment screening requirements.

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

• Christian commitment: A genuine commitment to Christian education and alignment with Calvary’s mission, values and ethos.
• Financial leadership: Proven experience across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cashflow, audit and internal controls.
• Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, payroll, funding and statutory compliance.
• People leadership: The ability to lead, develop and support a high-performing Finance Team.
• Systems and analytical skills: Strong financial systems and data analysis capability, with a focus on improving processes and controls.
• Communication and organisation: Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Highly regarded, but not essential:

• Degree qualification in Business, Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA membership.
• Previous experience working within a school or education environment.

Experience with TASS or a comparable school management system will be advantageous.
