Job description

Slice is a travel finance company focused on making unforgettable trips accessible at fair prices. Through its Paylater Travel "lay by for travel" product, Slice enables customers to lock in flight prices months in advance and repay in manageable instalments before their holiday. The company has supported over 250,000 customers with trips ranging from family reunions to weddings and global adventures, backed by a 4.8 Trustpilot rating from more than 6,000 reviews.

Finance here isn't a back-office function.

The Role

We're looking for the person who will own the finance function's operating rhythm: the weekly cash and lending cycle, review and sign-off of the monthly close, covenant reporting to our lender, and statutory and tax obligations across the group.

The work splits roughly three ways:

Treasury and lender reporting - yours end to end. Cash across all entities, cash profit reporting and forecasting, LVR calculation and forecasting, and monthly covenant reporting. If you want ownership of the numbers a business genuinely runs on, this is it.

Financial control - you review, and you own the judgement. Our Senior Financial Accountant prepares month-end and the reporting pack. You review it and own the calls behind it: ECL and cancellation provisioning methodology, deferred revenue treatment, group receivables, loss analysis on defaults and cancellations.

Statutory, tax and market entry. Australian BAS, IAS and payroll tax; US franchise, state and annual returns (our US entity also carries our Canadian sales); review of UK filings prepared by our Senior Financial Accountant; and annual statutory accounts including consolidation and transfer pricing.

Plus one thing we'd hand you early: our New Zealand entity is being established, and you'd stand up its finance and tax compliance from scratch - GST registration, lodgement cycle, income tax, and bringing it into the group consolidation.

You'll also manage our Philippines-based Financial Accountant, so some experience working with or leading remote team members helps.

What You'll Bring

  • Chartered Accountant - CA ANZ, or an overseas equivalent such as ACA (ICAEW, ICAS, Chartered Accountants Ireland). This one is a requirement.
  • 3+ years' post-qualification experience
  • Strong technical foundation in month-end close: you've owned one, so you can review one properly
  • Australian compliance knowledge: BAS, IAS, payroll tax
  • Exposure to statutory account preparation
  • Genuine cash flow forecasting ability - building and maintaining a model, not just reporting last month
  • Comfortable in Xero/NetSuite and strong in Excel or Google Sheets

On financial services experience: we'd love it, but we won't screen you out for its absence. The mechanics of covenant and LVR reporting are teachable, and our CFO will train you on them directly. What isn't teachable in a hurry is the technical foundation and the judgement to know when something doesn't look right - so that's what we're actually selecting on.
