Job summary

Ambition, a global advertising and media agency in Sydney, is seeking a Finance Manager to take ownership of the numbers. You’ll run the month end, oversee tax and compliance, report to head office and lead a close-knit finance team to drive improvements beyond ticking boxes.

This hands-on role offers growth as the business wins new clients; you’ll partner with non-finance teams, automate reporting, and help shape how finance operates across the group.

Qualifications

• Qualified CPA or CA with at least five years post-qualification experience.
• Strong IFRS 16 knowledge.
• Experience preparing group reporting packs for overseas parent or head office.
• Hands-on Australian tax compliance including BAS, FBT and company income tax.
• Exposure to Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting.
• Agency, media, or project-based WIP experience; mid-tier/Big 4 backgrounds welcome.
• Advanced Excel and ability to handle large data sets.
• Strong communication and collaboration with non-finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Own month end close, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting.
• Manage sales and cost WIP, so jobs are costed, recoverable and closed on time.
• Prepare consolidation reporting pack for head office, including intercompany and group disclosures.
• Look after tax and compliance, including BAS, FBT, the company income tax return and transfer pricing.
• Support Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting.
• Run overhead control, IFRS 16 lease accounting and the fixed asset register.
• Partner with the account service and production teams on job profitability and cost control.
• Lead, coaching and developing the finance team.
• Improving processes and automating manual reporting.

A global advertising and media agency in Sydney is looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of the numbers. You’ll run the month end, look after tax and compliance, report to head office and lead a close knit team. It’s a hands on role for someone who wants to make the function better, not only keep it ticking over.

About the role

You’ll report to the Finance Director and work closely with the CFO. The business is winning new clients and growing, so there’s room to build the team and shape how finance works.

What you’ll be doing:

• Owning the month end close, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting
• Managing sales and cost WIP, so jobs are costed, recoverable and closed on time
• Preparing the consolidation reporting pack for head office, including intercompany and group disclosures
• Looking after tax and compliance, including BAS, FBT, the company income tax return and transfer pricing
• Supporting Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting
• Running overhead control, IFRS 16 lease accounting and the fixed asset register
• Partnering with the account service and production teams on job profitability and cost control
• Leading, coaching and developing the finance team
• Improving processes and automating manual reporting

About you:

• CPA or CA qualified, with at least five years post qualification and some leadership experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS 16
• Experience preparing group reporting packs for an overseas parent or head office
• Hands on Australian tax compliance, including BAS, FBT and company income tax
• Exposure to transfer pricing, Pillar Two and Country by Country reporting, or the technical skills to pick them up
• Agency, media, professional services or other project based WIP experience is ideal. Mid tier and Big 4 backgrounds are welcome.
• Advanced Excel and confidence with large data sets and finance systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with non finance teams
