Job summary

SeaLink South Australia, based in Adelaide CBD, seeks a Financial Manager to lead the finance team, provide expert budgeting and strategic financial advice, and drive performance across departments. Responsibilities

  • Proactively participate in the Leadership Team and oversee financial management of departments.
  • Manage month-end close, including management reporting, forecasting, cash flow, reconciliations, audits, and AP/AR oversight.
  • Provide and review monthly journals, reconciliations, KPIs and reporting.
  • Support leadership with budgeting, budgeting analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the group finance team to meet statutory and reporting requirements.
  • Lead financial and business reviews to strengthen internal controls.
  • Prepare and review statutory obligations including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and WorkCover reconciliations.
  • Coordinate financial reporting for government contracts (e.g., DIT) and develop templates.
  • Act as key finance contact for Workday, providing guidance and training to stakeholders.
  • Support sustainability, ESG and other corporate reporting requirements.

About You

We are looking for a suitably qualified Financial Manager with an excellent understanding of accounting practices and their application, along with superior numerical ability and accuracy.

Appropriate qualifications in accounting or a related discipline are required, along with membership of either the ICAA or CPA Australia. The successful person will have experience in contributing to planning and execution of organisational strategy and decision-making, along with strong project management skills.

About the Role

Based in Adelaide CBD, and reporting to the General Manager South Australia, this role will have responsibility for providing expert financial advice, with a focus on budgeting, business management, monitoring of financial results, reporting and financial training and capacity building. Leading and mentoring a small finance team to support the day-to-day operations.

In addition to the above, the role will have responsibility for:

  • Proactively participate in the Sealink SA Leadership Team, leading and contributing to the financial management of relevant Departments
  • Manage the month-end close process, including management reporting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliations, coordination of audit activities and oversight of accounts payable and receivable
  • Provide and review monthly journals, reconciliations, key performance indicators and reporting
  • Provision of support for the leadership team with development of and understanding budgets, budget analysis and reporting
  • Work closely with the broader Kelsian Finance Team to support any statutory, Board and financial institutions reporting requirements and ensure reports are completed on time
  • Undertake project work as required
  • Lead and participate in financial and business reviews to improve and strengthen internal controls around business processes
  • Prepare and review statutory compliance obligations including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and WorkCover reconciliations and calculations
  • Prepare and coordinate financial reporting requirements for government contracts, including six-monthly reporting to the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and development of reporting templates and processes
  • Act as the key finance contact for Workday within SeaLink South Australia, providing guidance, training and support to stakeholders and driving continuous process improvement
  • Support the preparation and submission of sustainability, ESG and other corporate reporting requirements
You will require the following knowledge, experience and skills for this role:
  • Established leadership experience in managing others
  • A high level of self-motivation with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of experience in stakeholder management
  • Commercially astute
  • Previous experience in the professional presentation of reports to senior management
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A current National Police Clearance - no older than 6 months

The person we are looking for will be a team player with at least 5 years' previous experience in a similar role. Prior experience working in a shared services environment would be advantageous.
