Role Highlights: Join a leading multinational manufacturing business in a commercially influential role. Partner with operational leadership to drive performance, improve profitability and deliver meaningful business improvements.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a leading manufacturer during a period of operational growth and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with manufacturing leadership, influence operational decisions and contribute directly to the performance of a major Australian manufacturing operation.

You will become a trusted commercial partner to the Manufacturing Manager and broader site leadership team. Moving beyond traditional financial reporting, you will translate complex manufacturing data into actionable insights, challenge operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and strengthen profitability.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role that combines technical manufacturing finance with genuine operational business partnering. You will work closely with production teams on the factory floor, collaborate across Operations, Engineering and Continuous Improvement, and help drive measurable improvements across the manufacturing site.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with manufacturing leadership to provide commercial insights, constructive challenge and recommendations that improve operational performance.
  • Analyse key manufacturing performance drivers, including labour productivity, overtime, waste, yield, material usage, conversion costs and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and investigate manufacturing variances, translating complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Continuous Improvement teams to identify, quantify and deliver sustainable cost and productivity improvements.
  • Prepare and interpret weekly manufacturing performance reporting, highlighting risks, opportunities and key operational trends.
  • Support month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting, ensuring financial performance is clearly understood by operational stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial analysis of capital investment proposals, operational improvement initiatives and associated financial returns.
  • Support standard costing, inventory analysis, product costing and manufacturing cost management.
  • Leverage ERP systems, advanced Excel and reporting tools to improve data visibility, reporting quality and decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of analysts.

Candidate Profile

You are an experienced manufacturing finance professional with a strong commercial mindset and a genuine passion for understanding how businesses operate. With approximately 5–8 years or more of relevant experience, you bring solid technical expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, operational KPIs, budgeting and forecasting.Exposure to Power BI, Dynamics 365 or similar ERP and reporting systems would be advantageous.

Beyond your technical capability, you are a proactive and commercially curious business partner who enjoys being close to the operation. You are equally comfortable analysing complex financial data and engaging with production leaders on the factory floor, asking the right questions, challenging assumptions and translating insights into practical solutions. You build credibility through collaboration, communicate confidently across Finance and Operations, and take ownership of initiatives through to measurable outcomes. A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce is required, with CA or CPA highly regarded.

Backed by an international ownership group, the organisation combines the scale and stability of a major manufacturer with continued investment in operational excellence and innovation. The business fosters a collaborative, accountable and improvement-focused culture, where Finance is encouraged to work closely with Operations and play an active role in driving commercial outcomes.

  • Make a tangible impact: Influence manufacturing performance, operational efficiency and profitability within a major manufacturing business.
  • Broaden your commercial exposure: Work closely with senior manufacturing and supply chain leadership, with genuine involvement in operational decision-making.
  • Be rewarded: $160K–$165K + Super + Bonus, on-site parking and employee benefits.
