Avoca is building the operating layer for modern healthcare, providing AI infrastructure that helps distributed healthcare organisations run their most critical patient communication and administrative workflows more efficiently.
We're looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day work that keeps our business running. You'll work directly with the CEO, coordinate our external bookkeeper and advisers, and give the team clear financial information and dependable operational support.
Payroll and people administration. Coordinate pay runs, superannuation, leave, employee records, onboarding and offboarding.
Bookkeeping oversight. Work with our bookkeeper to keep invoicing, expenses, reconciliations and month-end accounts accurate and current.
Travel logistics. Coordinate team travel and conference participation, including bookings, registrations, sponsorship deliverables and event logistics.
Tax coordination. Track filing and payment deadlines, prepare inputs for our accountants and follow through on their advice.
Financial visibility. Prepare a monthly P&L and cash report, maintain a cash flow forecast and flag changes to budget or runway early.
HR and office operations. Maintain employment documents and policies, coordinate routine people matters, and manage office suppliers, equipment and practical needs.
5+ years' experience, including at least two years owning finance operations in a company of perhaps 10+ people.
A strong finance foundation: Australian payroll, Xero, month-end reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and oversight of a bookkeeper.
Practical people operations experience: onboarding, leave, employee records and coordinating advice on employment issues.
Founder-facing judgement: able to give you a reliable P&L and runway view, flag a problem early, and recommend what needs your decision.
Comfort with external advisers and complexity: able to coordinate accountants and lawyers through Avoca's Australia–US transition without claiming to be the tax or legal expert.
You are organised and proactive. You take ownership, work independently, spot issues before they become urgent, and give the CEO concise information and clear decisions to make.
You'll have genuine ownership, direct access to the founding team and the opportunity to build the operating foundations of a growing healthcare technology company.
