Job description

Join MediRecords as a Financial Accountant and play a hands‑on role in a growing Australian health tech business. Working closely with our CFO, you’ll gain broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, analysis and commercial decision‑making, while helping shape a modern Finance function through technology, automation and AI.

If you’re looking for a role where you can build your skills, have real ownership and see the impact of your work, this could be the opportunity for you.

About MediRecords

At MediRecords, we’re transforming the way healthcare is delivered through smarter technology. Our innovative solutions give healthcare providers the tools they need to deliver exceptional patient care.

Trusted by doctors, multidisciplinary clinics, hospitals and government departments across Australia, our products make a real difference to the way healthcare is delivered.

We’re a growing business with a collaborative culture, a strong focus on integrity and a genuine appetite for finding better ways to do things.

About the Role

As part of the Finance team, the Financial Accountant will play an important role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly while supporting the business as it grows.

This is a hands‑on, data‑driven role combining financial accounting, reporting, analysis and day‑to‑day finance operations. You’ll work closely with our CFO and teams across the business to ensure we have accurate financial information, strong financial controls and meaningful insights to support decision‑making.

You’ll also have the opportunity to help evolve the way our Finance function operates, including using technology, automation and AI to improve efficiency, analysis and financial decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and oversee day-to-day finance transactions.
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations, including tracking customer receipts, deposits and payments.
  • Manage customer invoicing and billing across our CRM and Xero, including resolving queries.
  • Maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable registers.
  • Follow up overdue customer payments and work with account managers to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Process supplier and other bill payments in line with agreed payment cycles.
  • Own month-end reporting and reconciliations, ensuring accruals and other adjustments are accurately captured and financial records are ready for consolidation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and analysis.
  • Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, consolidation and Board reporting.
  • Generate financial and operational reports across systems including Xero, Dynamics 365 CRM and payment platforms, ensuring data is accurate and consistent.
  • Work with our Technology team to extract and analyse business data and turn it into meaningful monthly insights.
  • Assist with R&D tax incentive applications and ASIC updates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analysis, reconciliations and business reporting as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing transformation of the Finance function, including opportunities to leverage AI and automation.
About You

You enjoy working with numbers and data, but you also understand that good finance is about more than the numbers. You’re curious, practical and comfortable getting into the detail while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.

You’ll ideally have:
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role, or demonstrated capability through relevant experience.
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, with a willingness to pursue, or currently working towards, CPA or CA.
  • Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working across cloud-based systems.
  • Experience with Xero and CRM platforms such as Dynamics 365 or HubSpot would be highly regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate financial records and reporting.
  • The ability to analyse financial and non-financial data and turn it into useful insights.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to work autonomously, take ownership and solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across different areas of the business.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions and continuously look for better ways of doing things.
  • A genuine interest in technology and the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of a modern, tech-enabled Finance function.
What We Offer
  • Permanent full-time opportunity with a competitive salary package.
  • Hybrid working that gives you the flexibility to work effectively both in the office and remotely.
  • Wellness & Celebration Day – an extra day of leave each year to focus on your wellbeing, recharge or celebrate your birthday - it’s up to you!
  • A collaborative team environment where you’ll work alongside people who are passionate about what they do.
  • Professional development opportunities tailored to your interests, career goals and development.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to grow your accounting career while gaining broad exposure in a growing health tech business, we’d love to hear from you.
