Job summary

Veolia North West Alliance (NWA) seeks an Operations Supervisor with a strong waste management background to lead our professional driving team in the Pilbara region. You’ll coordinate service delivery, champion safety and drive continuous improvement through effective problem solving, with occasional truck driving when required.

This FI/FO role is based in Perth with site follow-on work in Newman. You’ll need solid leadership, ability to manage drivers, and knowledge of Chain of Responsibility.

Qualifications

• Background in waste management is desirable.
• Understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to read reports.
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong people skills and communication/negotiation ability.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Strong safety focus.
• Experience with Solid Waste Driver Management systems is advantageous.
• A valid HC/MC truck license is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate service deliveries through supervision of drivers.
• Conduct daily prestart meetings or driver debriefs with the drivers.
• Manage and resolve occupational health, safety and environmental issues.
• Communicate accurate and timely information to stakeholders.
• Manage drivers and ensure full Chain of Responsibility compliance.
• Review routes for optimisation and improvement opportunities.
• Develop a safety-first and continuous improvement culture.
• Respond to operational issues with a solutions-focused approach.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an Operations Supervisor with a background in waste management to join our JV and to lead our professional driving team.

You’ll coordinate service delivery, champion a strong culture of safety, and drive continuous improvement through effective problem-solving. You may also be required to drive our trucks when needed.

With your strong leadership skills and proactive approach to HSE management, you'll ensure exceptional service delivery while maintaining the highest safety standards.

This role is a FI/FO role out of Perth Only

What you'll be responsible for

• Assisting in the coordination of service deliveries through the supervision of drivers
• Conducting Daily Prestart meetings or Daily Driver Debriefs with the drivers
• Managing and resolving occupational health and safety and environmental issues
• Communicate accurate and timely information to all stakeholders
• Managing drivers and ensuring full compliance with Chain of Responsibility requirements
• Proactively review route performance to identify route optimisation and improvement opportunities
• Developing a safety first and continuous improvement culture
• Problem solve by responding to issues that are of immediate operational concern with a solutions focus

What you'll need to be successful

• A background in waste management is desirable
• Understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations.
• Sound analytic skills and ability to read reports
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong people skills, including a strong ability to communicate and negotiate
• Ability to work autonomously
• A strong safety focus
• Experience with the Solid Waste Driver Management computer system is advantageous
• A valid HC/MC truck license ideal
