Job summary

ISS is seeking an experienced Chef to join our mining village kitchens in Central Queensland. You will work on a 9 days on / 5 days off roster or 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster, delivering nutritious meals in a remote environment.

Reporting to the Head Chef/Village Manager, you’ll lead kitchen tasks, supervise a team of qualified chefs, and ensure food safety, hygiene, and high service standards for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a qualified chef.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia.
• Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen (desirable).
• Pass a full Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
• Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
• Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality meals consistently and efficiently.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
• Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
