Job summary

ISS Facility Services in Central Queensland is seeking an experienced Chef to join our remote mining village kitchen operations. You will work with qualified chefs to deliver nutritious meals and a high-quality on-site dining experience for residents.

The role requires 2–3 years' kitchen experience, Australian Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, and strong food safety knowledge; FIFO roster; pass medicals; and contribute to a positive team culture while upholding WHS and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher).
• Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable).
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
• Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
• Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
• Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality meals consistently and efficiently.
• Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
• Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
