Job summary

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Field Technician to join our Technical Services team across Pilbara operations. You will support field data collection, earthworks and approvals-related activities with autonomy, working with internal teams, contractors and Traditional Custodians.

Reporting to the Studies Field Supervisor, you will help with water supply and monitoring assets, and contribute to safe delivery across Heritage, Environment, Surface Water, Hydrogeology and Engineering scopes while

Qualifications

• Pilbara fieldwork experience, including remote and helicopter-supported operations.
• Strong commitment to safety, practical problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience working respectfully with Traditional Custodians, Indigenous team members, contractors and consultants.
• Competence using Microsoft Office, acQuire, ArcGIS, Trimble and GPS systems.
• Knowledge of Fortescue’s Land Use Certificate and Heritage Compliance processes.
• Current WA Class C manual driver’s licence, 4WD and Senior First Aid certificates.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Superintendent and Field Supervisors in delivering earthworks and field-based scopes safely and efficiently.
• Assist with the installation, maintenance and monitoring of water supply and water monitoring assets.
• Support the delivery of Approvals and Studies activities across Heritage, Environment, Surface Water, Hydrogeology and Engineering.
• Assist with field activities, stakeholder coordination and contractor support.
• Ensure work is completed safely, compliantly and in accordance with Fortescue requirements, approvals and study conditions.
• Collect, record and maintain accurate field data and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with study managers, project teams, geologists, scope owners, consultants and drilling contractors.
• Build respectful and effective working relationships with Traditional Custodians and Indigenous team members.
• Share knowledge, mentor technicians and identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and efficiency.

Fortescue is seeking an experienced and capable Field Technician to join our Technical Services team.

Reporting to the Studies Field Supervisor, you will support the delivery of critical field data collection, earthworks and approvals-related activities across Fortescue’s operations.

This includes supporting water supply and monitoring assets, assisting with field-based studies and contributing to the safe and reliable delivery of work across Heritage, Environment, Surface Water, Hydrogeology and Engineering scopes.

The role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of internal teams, contractors, consultants and Traditional Custodians. You will operate with a high level of autonomy, support equipment reliability, mentor other technicians and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Proven Pilbara fieldwork experience, including remote and helicopter-supported operations.
• Strong commitment to safety, practical problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience working respectfully with Traditional Custodians, Indigenous team members, contractors and consultants.
• Competence using Microsoft Office, acQuire, ArcGIS, Trimble and GPS systems.
• Knowledge of Fortescue’s Land Use Certificate and Heritage Compliance processes.
• Current WA Class C manual driver’s licence, 4WD and Senior First Aid certificates.

Highly regarded: HR licence, rigging and dogging, crane operations, Remote Pilot Licence, earthmoving tickets, and experience in drilling, exploration, environmental, heritage, hydrogeological or engineering fieldwork.
