Job summary

Fortescue is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join Energy Operations in Perth, WA. You will provide engineering expertise across generation, transmission and distribution assets, developing maintenance strategies, asset health programs, and reliability initiatives to support safe, reliable operations.

Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with Maintenance, Planning and Projects to integrate new assets and optimize performance across the asset lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent; postgraduate study in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems highly regarded.
• Experience in mining/energy/asset-intensive environments.
• Experience with BESS or solar assets; exposure to generation, transmission or distribution is advantageous.
• Strong asset lifecycle management, condition monitoring, RCA/FMECA and maintenance strategy development.
• Proficiency with SAP, Excel or similar maintenance and asset-management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement; WA C-Class Driver’s Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk-based maintenance strategies for electrical assets across Energy Operations.
• Develop and improve maintenance plans, inspection regimes and performance standards for electrical/high-voltage infrastructure.
• Contribute to asset criticality assessments, FMECA, Reliability Centred Maintenance and related activities.
• Support condition monitoring and asset health programs using performance data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Provide input into engineering standards, procedures, audits and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Engineering and Projects teams to define maintenance requirements and integrate new assets.

Join Energy Operations at an exciting time of growth and help shape how a diverse portfolio of electrical and renewable energy assets is maintained, monitored and optimised for long-term performance. As Electrical Engineer, you’ll provide engineering expertise across generation, transmission and distribution assets, supporting safe, reliable and efficient operations through robust maintenance strategies and asset management practices.

Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll work across Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Projects and Operational Readiness to support both existing infrastructure and the integration of new assets into operations. From maintenance strategy and condition monitoring through to asset health, criticality and defect elimination, this role offers broad exposure across the asset lifecycle and the opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of Fortescue’s Energy Operations portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, review and implementation of risk-based maintenance strategies for new and existing electrical assets across Energy Operations.
• Develop and improve maintenance plans, inspection regimes, task lists and performance standards for electrical and high-voltage infrastructure.
• Contribute to asset criticality assessments, FMECA, Reliability Centred Maintenance and other reliability and maintenance strategy activities.
• Support condition monitoring and asset health programs, using performance information to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide technical input into engineering standards, specifications, procedures, audits, technical reviews and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Engineering and Project teams to define maintenance requirements and support the successful integration of new assets.

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, with postgraduate study in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems highly regarded.
• Strong electrical engineering experience within mining, energy, utilities or a comparable asset-intensive operational environment.
• Experience working with BESS, solar or other renewable energy assets, with exposure to generation, transmission or distribution infrastructure highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, condition monitoring, defect elimination, RCA, FMECA and maintenance strategy development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience using SAP, Excel or similar maintenance and asset-management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide practical technical support across multidisciplinary operational teams; current WA C-Class Driver’s Licence required.
