Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a Field Technician experienced to join our Technical Services team at Iron Bridge. This role is based at the Iron Bridge site with a FIFO option from Perth or DIDO Port Hedland on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster.

Key responsibilities include blast hole sampling/logging, daily inspections of sample locations, weekly stocktakes, and collaboration with geotechnical and survey teams. The ideal candidate will have a C Class license, open pit mining experience, strong

Qualifications

• Open pit mining experience is advantageous.
• Manual C Class Driver’s License is required.
• Proactive, highly motivated, and enthusiastic; willing to take on new challenges in a physically demanding role.
• Team player with a can-do and collaborative attitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; able to build multi-department relationships.
• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Blast Hole sampling/logging and submission to laboratory; ensure accurate sampling and clear identification of samples.
• Carry out daily pattern inspections and checks of sample drop-off locations.
• Perform weekly stocktakes on consumables and supplies.
• Liaise with and maintain strong relationships with other teams.
• Assist geotechnical engineers with prism installs, wall inspections, berm inspections, crack meter installations, and post-blast inspections.
• Assist surveyors with pegging/flagging, basic GPS tasks, scanning, drone flights and bathymetric surveys.

• Ensure accurate sampling and clear identification of samples
• Conduct daily pattern inspections and checks of sample drop-off locations

• Assistance to surveyors may include pegging/flagging, basic GPS jobs, scanning, drone flights and bathymetric surveys.
