Job summary

Sandfire Resources in partnership with Havilah Resources advances the Kalkaroo copper-gold project in South Australia. We seek experienced Field Technicians for a minimum 12-month assignment, based in Adelaide with a 14-days-on, 7-days-off roster.

You will support supervising geologists, assist RC and diamond drilling, sampling, core processing, data collection, and field logistics, while upholding safety and contributing to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Field Technician or similar exploration support role.
• Experience supporting RC and/or diamond drilling programs.
• Experience in remote exploration or mining environments.
• Strong field safety knowledge and risk management.
• Experience collecting and handling geological samples.
• Ability to work in small field teams and remote locations.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support active RC and diamond drilling programs.
• Collect, prepare and dispatch samples to laboratories.
• Process drill cores: orientation, cutting, sampling.
• Prepare drill pads and mark drill sites.
• Record geological data accurately and maintain records.
• Liaise with contractors and provide field logistics support.
• Inspect vehicles, equipment and infrastructure.
• Manage inventory and consumables.
• Assist with drill program planning and execution.

Job description

Sandfire Resources has entered an exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance theKalkarooCopper-Gold Projectin South Australia. We are currently looking for experienced Field Technicians to join this exciting project.
These roles are offered with a minimum commitment of 12 months. The work schedule consists of a 14-days-on, 7-days-off rotation, with the point of hire located in Adelaide.
This position is responsible for providing support to the supervising Field Geologists and Senior Field Technicians onsite. The role will perform tasks as requested in a safe, consistent and predictable manner. The Field technician will contribute to the Kalkaroo project by assisting with the collection of sampling data at reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drill rigs, the preparation and processing of drill core, compilation of associated data and any other geological practices as and when directed.

About The Role

• Supporting active RC and diamond drilling programs
• Sample collection, preparation and dispatch to laboratories

• Drill pad preparation and drill site mark-ups

• Contractor liaison and field logistics support

About You

• Previous experience as a Field Technician, Field Assistant or similar exploration support position
• Practical experience supporting RC and/or diamond drilling programs
• Experience working within remote exploration or mining environments
• Strong understanding of field safety procedures and risk management practices
• Experience collecting, handling and managing geological samples
• Ability to work effectively within small field teams and remote locations
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging environmental conditions
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work
• High attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection
