Job summary

Sandfire is seeking a Senior Advisor Health, Safety and Wellbeing to join the Kalkaroo copper-gold project in South Australia. The role supports pre-feasibility phase delivery, coaching site leaders, and implementing health, safety and training programs across operations.

You will focus on risk management, incident investigations, audits, and KPI delivery, while fostering a culture of safe and healthy work practices on a 2:1 roster at Kalkaroo.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field required.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessing is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a remote mine site safety/wellbeing role.
• Incident reporting and corrective action experience (ICAM/Taproot).
• Experience using INX or similar software.
• Knowledge in Training Needs Analysis and training gap analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Influence site leaders to ensure the delivery and application of fundamental health and safety processes.
• Provide coaching for risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Conduct workplace inspections, behaviour, and task observations for conformance to safety standards.
• Ensure audits are recorded in InControl and follow up with action management.
• Support identification and escalation of notifiable incidents to site leadership.
• Develop and implement health, safety and wellbeing initiatives aligned with Sandfire strategy.
• Training needs analysis of allocated workgroups.
• Delivery of Sandfire Resources training modules and LMS management.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure training documentation is current and compliant.
• Ensure contract responsibilities and KPI delivery.

Sandfire is a global copper producer of significance and continues to make strong progress toward its goal of being a sustainable mining company. Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Sandfire Resources has entered an exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance the Kalkaroo Copper-Gold Project in South Australia. An opportunity exists for an accomplished Health and Safety professional to join our Project team at Kalkaroo as we safely establish site infrastructure and commence drilling activities.

The Senior Advisor Health, Safety and Wellbeing will provide specialist health, safety, wellbeing, and training expertise during the pre-feasibility phase. The role plays a key part in guiding the broader workforce to implement, monitor, and continually improve systems, standards, and programs aligned with Sandfire's requirements and relevant legislation.

The position will support the delivery of high-quality HSW (Health, Safety & Wellbeing) and training advice, assurance, and support across all site activities. A strong focus is placed on coaching, capability building, and fostering a culture where safe and healthy work practices are understood, valued, and consistently applied.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Influence site leaders to ensure the successful delivery and application of fundamental health and safety processes (including leadership in the field, critical risk management aligned to identified Principal Hazards, hazard identification and control, incident investigation and action management and tracking).
• Provide support for risk assessments and incident investigations by coaching, facilitating and providing professional advice.
• Conduct workplace inspections, behaviour, and task observations to assess conformance to safety standards.
• Ensure all audits undertaken are recorded in InControl and that an appropriate action management process is applied.
• Support the identification and escalation of notifiable incidents to site leadership in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Development and implementation of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives aligned with the Sandfire strategy.
• Training needs analysis of all allocated workgroups.
• Delivery of all Sandfire Resources training modules and assist with the management of the learning management system (LMS).
• Liaise with contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure all mobile and plant equipment training documentation is current and compliant for use at Kalkaroo.
• Ensuring all responsibilities of contracts when appointed as the Contract Representative, including established KPI's are met and delivered.

About You

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (Desirable)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a remote mine site Safety and Wellbeing role. (Exploration, Mineral Processing or Mining).
• Incident reporting and corrective action (e.g. ICAM, Taproot).
• Experience using INX or similar software.
• Knowledge in conducting Training Needs Analysis, establishing skills training matrices and conducting training gap analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
