Job summary

Cleanaway is seeking a technically adept leader to provide direction across two hazardous waste operations sites in Queensland. You will interpret chemistry insights to guide safe, compliant and commercially sound decisions while engaging with chemists, supervisors and frontline teams.

The role emphasizes translating analytical data into actionable site operations, coaching teams, and driving improvements in processing capabilities and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or a closely related scientific discipline.
• Experience applying chemistry within an industrial, environmental, hazardous materials or operational setting.
• Strong understanding of sampling, laboratory analysis and QA/QC principles.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical information and convert it into operational decisions.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or providing technical leadership to others.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, waste treatment, chemical compatibility or related processing activities.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal technical adviser for waste treatment, acceptance and site operating decisions.
• Lead integration between laboratory, technical and operations teams across multiple sites.
• Assess waste streams, treatment capability and operational constraints to support safe processing decisions.
• Coach technical teams on sampling, QA/QC practices and application of technical data.
• Develop procedures and decision pathways that improve consistency and operational performance.
• Contribute technical expertise to infrastructure, process improvement and site development initiatives.
