Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of chemistry fundamentals and chemical processes.
• Hands-on industrial environment experience, including exposure to waste treatment operations.
• Willingness to work in a regional location.
• Practical, safety-focused approach with a strong work ethic.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
• Interest in waste management, environmental sustainability, and resource recovery.
• Previous laboratory, manufacturing, waste treatment, mining, water treatment, or industrial experience is highly regarded.
• Current driver's licence essential.
• Forklift licence advantageous (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assist with chemical treatment processes, including acid/caustic neutralisation and waste stream management.
• Conduct jar tests, flash tests, and process optimisation trials.
• Collect, analyse, and record samples from a range of waste streams.
• Monitor and support day-to-day plant operations and treatment activities.
• Prepare samples for external laboratory analysis and maintain accurate documentation.
• Assist with trials of new waste streams and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with WHS procedures, environmental regulations, and site requirements.
• Support chemical inventory management and general operational activities as required.
